A newly approved high-end subdivision in Bago Gallera is poised to attract fresh investments and open up employment opportunities in Davao City, a city councilor said.
Councilor J. Melchor Quitain Jr., who chairs the Committees on Government Properties and on Housing and Subdivision Development under PD 957, shared the update during the Pulong-Pulong sa Dabawenyo program. He described the project as a notable addition to the city’s growing list of residential developments this term.
Quitain said the subdivision, to be developed by Contempo, is the first high-end housing project approved by the City Council during the current term.
He expressed optimism about its economic impact, noting that the development is expected to generate revenue for the city while creating jobs, particularly for residents of Bago Gallera.
Despite existing economic challenges, Quitain said the project reflects continued investor confidence in Davao City’s growth potential. He added that the city remains hopeful more developers will pursue projects locally.
The councilor also underscored efforts to make the approval process more efficient as part of the city’s strategy to attract investments.
According to Quitain, once applications reach the City Council, they are promptly endorsed to his committee for review, where hearings are immediately conducted. He said approvals, including the necessary permits, can be completed in as little as a month.
Quitain said this faster turnaround demonstrates the city government’s commitment to supporting business activity and development initiatives.
“Acting fast is one way to encourage investors and show that the City Council is serious about getting to work,” he said.
