A total of 174,807 people visited cemeteries and memorial parks across Davao City during the 2026 Undas observance, with the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) reporting zero security incidents throughout its operations.
DCPO Director Colonel Peter Bauzon Madria credited the peaceful observance to the preparedness of police personnel, close coordination among government agencies, and the cooperation of the public.
The DCPO deployed 556 police personnel to cemeteries and other areas identified as potential crowd destinations. They were reinforced by 136 personnel from partner agencies and support units, including the Task Force Davao (TFD), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
An additional 1,232 members of various advocacy groups also took part in the security operations, helping manage crowds and maintain order in cemeteries.
The police office, in coordination with the city government and the city’s safety and security cluster, implemented measures to protect cemetery visitors and ensure an orderly observance.
Police visibility was heightened in cemeteries and nearby areas, where personnel assisted visitors, managed crowd movement, and responded to concerns that could pose risks to public safety.
Madria said the coordinated security deployment helped prevent congestion, facilitate the movement of visitors, and ensure that families could pay their respects to their departed loved ones peacefully.
He said the absence of reported security incidents highlighted the importance of operational preparedness, inter-agency coordination, and community participation in securing large public gatherings.
Madria also expressed appreciation to police personnel, partner agencies, advocacy groups, and other organizations that supported the Undas operations, as well as to the public for observing safety protocols.
