LTO 11 reminds motorists to renew vehicle registrations ahead of extended deadlines

The Land Transportation Office 11 (LTO 11) has urged vehicle owners in the Davao Region to renew their registrations early, warning that failure to meet the extended deadlines could result in penalties and additional charges.

LTO 11 Regional Director Lawyer Ernesto Raphael V. Robillo made the appeal on Wednesday, reminding motorists to take responsibility for keeping their vehicle registrations up to date, particularly those whose registrations have already expired but are covered by the agency’s extension.

“Gusto ko lang manawagan kasi we should be responsible also if we’re vehicle owners. Kung sa ating mga plaka o sa rehistro natin, alam natin na mag-e-expire na and if there’s no impediment naman on our part na na pwede nating iparehistro na ’yung ating mga sasakyan ’no, ’yung mga rehistro natin, magparehistro na tayo,” Robillo said.

His reminder follows the issuance of LTO Memorandum Circular No. MVL-2026-5523, which suspends the previous extension of validity for expiring vehicle registrations, driver’s licenses, permits, and certificates under Memorandum Circular No. MVL-2026-5271 dated July 29, 2026.

The LTO said the move was prompted by issues encountered in the Land Transportation Management System (LTMS), which required the agency to address numerous system-related concerns. With the suspension, regular renewal procedures and processes will resume under a revised schedule.

Under the new schedule, vehicle registrations that expired in July and August 2026 may be renewed from November 3 to December 29, 2026.

Those with September 2026 expiration dates have until January 29, 2027, to renew, with the renewal period starting December 1, 2026.

Meanwhile, vehicles whose registrations expired in October 2026 may be renewed from January 4 to February 26, 2027.

Robillo advised motorists covered by the extension to complete their renewal transactions within the prescribed periods rather than wait until the deadlines approach.

“At any rate, since meron tayong pronouncement on extensions, ’yung mga sasakyan na July to August ’yung expiry nila of this year, hanggang December 29 na lang of this year ’yung kanilang extension. Before that date, meaning, before December 20-29 of this year, i-renew na nila ’yung kanilang mga sasakyan,” he said.

He also reminded owners whose vehicle registrations expired in September to observe the corresponding renewal schedule.

The LTO warned that renewals made beyond the applicable extended periods will be subject to fines and other charges under existing laws and regulations.

Robillo emphasized that motorists should not depend on registration extensions when there are no circumstances preventing them from renewing their vehicles ahead of time.

The agency reiterated its call for vehicle owners to comply with the revised schedule to avoid penalties and ensure their vehicles remain legally registered.
