Baste alleges threats during midterm polls, calls for resistance at RAGE launch in Cebu

PDP-Laban President and Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte said he and his family were allegedly threatened during the recent midterm elections, including reports of possible home raids, planted evidence, and surveillance.

He made the statement during the launch of the Reform Alliance for Accountability, Good Governance and Ethics (RAGE) Coalition-Visayas on Sunday in Cebu City, where supporters gathered to push for better governance and accountability.

The RAGE Coalition is a group advocating transparency, ethical leadership, and stronger accountability in government. It brought together political allies and supporters in Cebu to discuss reforms and concerns about alleged abuses of power.

In his speech, Duterte also repeated his claim that his father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, was “kidnapped” and brought to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands.

“During midterm election, naa mi threat na i-raid ang amoang mga balay, butangan kuno nila ug granada para non-bailable offense, ingon ana ba, balhin balhin pa mi ug balay di man pud ta padakop dayon unya mag-atbangay unya makasukol ko, mangamatay tang tanan,” he said.

Duterte also claimed he was under surveillance during the campaign period.

He ashared that while he was walking, he noticed a drone hovering above and seemingly tracking him. Even so, he said he remained calm and did not feel afraid.

He also raised concerns about the current state of governance and called for unity and resistance.

Duterte said fighting back is now necessary.

“Wala na’y lain nabilin, sukol na lang ang nabilin sa atoa. Nagtuo sila kay powerful sila, influential sila unya they have a lot of money, makaya-kaya ra nila ang tawo ug mao na ang ginabuhat sa mga Pilipino, dili gyud nato na dawaton,” Duterte said.

The RAGE Coalition event also served as a venue to discuss reforms in governance, empower citizens, and push for stronger accountability in public institutions amid rising political tensions.
