A total of 110 children in Davao City have been successfully withdrawn from child labor after undergoing thorough validation by the Department of Labor and Employment in Region 11 (DOLE 11).
The confirmation was carried out by DOLE 11’s Child Labor Prevention and Elimination Program (CLPEP) team through a recent monitoring activity in Barangay 31-D, Barangay 22-C, New Carmen, Tagluno, and Leon Garcia.
The assessment aimed to determine whether the children, previously engaged in labor, have fully transitioned to safer and more appropriate environments.
DOLE 11 reported that these children are now living free from hazardous work conditions, with many returning to school and others continuing their education without the strain of labor.
“For these children, this development signifies a shift away from difficult and dangerous work toward opportunities centered on learning and growth,” the agency said.
Officials emphasized that the achievement was made possible through a comprehensive approach that addressed both the needs of the children and their families.
The program provided educational support to the children while extending livelihood assistance to parents, helping reduce the financial pressures that often lead to child labor.
DOLE 11 added that it will continue to monitor the children’s progress to ensure they remain in safe environments and are able to pursue their education and overall well-being without interruption.
