Sugar and Spice | Young talents shine in culinary, tourism events

Creativity, sustainability, and student talent were on full display as learners from Joji Ilagan International Schools showcased their skills during JIB PRO X 2026 and the first-ever JIB B.E.S.T., events that celebrated the next generation of professionals in culinary arts, hospitality, tourism, and entrepreneurship.

The activities were held Wednesday at the activity center of Ayala Malls Abreeza, gathering students, educators, and mallgoers for a vibrant showcase of industry-inspired competitions and presentations.

This year’s JIB PRO X carried the theme “Sustaining the Flavors of the Earth,” highlighting sustainability, innovation, and responsible practices aligned with the goals of the United NationsSustainable Development Goals, particularly those focused on quality education and responsible consumption and production.

Students from the school’s International Management School (IMS) participated in various contests and interactive exhibits that simulated real-world industry experiences. These included culinary demonstrations, hospitality presentations, and tourism storytelling activities that emphasized the role of creativity and sustainability in modern industries.

“JIB PRO is more than just an ordinary event. It is a proof of readiness, it is a proof of our standards, it is a proof that in JIB we do not just participate but we aim to elevate,” said Joji Ilagan-Bian in her message.

Meanwhile, JIB B.E.S.T., held on Friday, served as the culminating event of the school’s Study for Work Program (S4W), giving students the opportunity to demonstrate their practical skills through lively competitions and presentations.

Among the highlights was “Summit Sips: Peak-to-Glass Mocktail Mixing,” where aspiring mixologists created beverages inspired by mountain landscapes, and “Guides to the Peaks: TrailTalk Challenge,” where participants promoted mountain destinations through storytelling that included safety tips and cultural insights.

In his welcome remarks, Dr. Esiel B. Cabrera encouraged students to B.O.B.O.—Bring Out the Best in Ourselves—while reminding them that perseverance and discipline are essential to achieving their goals.

He ended his message with a lighthearted reminder that while celebrating their accomplishments, students should remain humble—“always sweet inside, like pineapples.”

Through the energy and creativity displayed in both events, Joji Ilagan International Schools once again demonstrated how education, innovation, and sustainability can nurture future professionals ready to thrive on the global stage.
