Public school teacher nabbed; P496K shabu seized in Davao de Oro

A public-school teacher was arrested after allegedly selling suspected shabu to an undercover agent during a buy-bust operation in Compostela, Davao de Oro, on Thursday night.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 11 (PDEA RO11), through its Davao de Oro Provincial Office, carried out the operation with the assistance of the Davao de Oro Police Provincial Office and the Compostela Municipal Police Station at around 10:45 p.m. in Purok 8, Barangay Poblacion.

The suspect, identified as alias “Jesly,” was arrested after allegedly selling a sachet of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu, worth P7,000 to a PDEA operative posing as a buyer.

Operatives recovered five additional heat-sealed plastic sachets containing approximately 73 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated standard drug value of P496,400. The marked money used in the transaction was also confiscated.

Authorities said the suspect will face charges for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as amended.

PDEA RO11 Regional Director Benjamin G. Gaspi reiterated the agency’s commitment to strengthening anti-illegal drug operations and ensuring accountability among those involved in the drug trade, regardless of their profession or social standing.

He also encouraged the public to help authorities combat illegal drugs by reporting suspicious activities to the proper agencies.
