23-year-old man was killed while two minors were injured after a sport utility vehicle (SUV) collided with an electric bike (e-bike) with a sidecar along Coastal Road in Barangay 76-A, Bucana, Davao City, early Saturday morning, police said.
According to the initial police investigation, the crash occurred at around 5:03 a.m. on June 28 after Central 911 received a report of the incident and dispatched responders to the scene.
Police identified the fatality as Salvador Espinosa III, 23, a resident of Purok 7, Barangay 37-D, Davao City. He was declared dead at the scene by Central 911 personnel.
The injured passengers, identified only by their aliases “Sugar,” 16, and “Muhammar,” 13, were immediately transported to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) for medical treatment.
Initial investigation showed that a Ford Everest SUV driven by Jaysie Daragosa Arpon and an e-bike driven by Russel Radasa were both traveling southbound along Coastal Road when the collision occurred. Police said the front portion of the SUV struck the rear of the e-bike while both vehicles were traveling on the outer lane of the road.
Both vehicles sustained damage in the collision.
Police have classified the incident as a case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, multiple physical injuries, and damage to property. The investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
