Behind hospital walls, quiet acts of courage unfold in the lives of children battling cancer—facing each day with strength beyond their years.
In a compassionate outreach beyond its core mandate, the Preventive Education and Community Involvement Section of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 11 (PDEA RO 11), together with College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) interns from Holy Cross of Davao College, visited young cancer patients and their families at the House of Hope Foundation for Kids with Cancer Inc. at Southern Philippines Medical Center on April 30, 2026.
The initiative aimed to uplift the spirits of the children and provide encouragement to their families, who continue to stand by them through every challenge.
The team organized a series of simple yet meaningful activities, including an anti-drug awareness talk, storytelling sessions, interactive games, and the distribution of care packages. These moments brought smiles, laughter, and a sense of comfort to the children, offering a brief but welcome break from the weight of their illness.
Parents expressed heartfelt gratitude, sharing that gestures like these remind them they are not alone. Beyond material support, the visit delivered emotional strength and reassurance during a difficult time.
The outreach highlights PDEA RO 11’s broader commitment to community engagement—demonstrating that its mission extends beyond enforcement to include compassion, empathy, and service.
Through this effort, PDEA 11 and its partners showed that even in life’s most difficult moments, hope can be shared, and light can still shine.
