The Davao City Council has approved on third and final reading the city’s P15.8-billion annual budget for 2026 during a special session held on Thursday.
According to Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang, chairperson of the Committee on Finance, the total appropriation consists of P13.6 billion for the general fund proper, P2 billion for the development fund, and P165 million for economic enterprises.
Dayanghirang said the 2026 budget reinforces the 12 priority programs of Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte’s administration, which focus on education, health, infrastructure, agriculture, and solid waste management.
“These priorities reflect our continued commitment to responsive, sustainable, and inclusive growth for all Dabawenyos,” Dayanghirang said.
He explained that the budget emphasizes investments that improve the quality of life and strengthen community resilience, ensuring that programs reach both urban and rural barangays.
The approved 2026 budget represents a 10.76 percent increase from the P14.3 billion allocation in 2025—an indication of the city’s strengthened fiscal capacity and continued commitment to social and economic development.
Dayanghirang also reported an unappropriated balance of P43.39 million from the city’s economic enterprises, attributing it to prudent fiscal management and consistent revenue performance over the past year.
He added that the ordinance authorizes the City Treasurer’s Office to implement appropriations starting January 2026, ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of public services and the continuation of major development projects aligned with Davao City’s vision of inclusive and sustainable growth.
“Ang pondo nato para sa 2026 dili lang ihatag base sa panginahanglan, kundi base sa kapasidad nato nga magpabilin nga responsableng lungsod nga nagauna sa kalambuan ug serbisyo,” Dayanghirang said.
