Wanted man arrested while securing police clearance

A 39-year-old man was arrested by authorities at the Talomo Police Station on Tuesday after it was discovered that he had an outstanding warrant of arrest while processing his police clearance.

The individual, known by the alias “Vince,” went to the station to apply for a clearance when his name was flagged in the system as a wanted person. Police personnel immediately verified the information through the National Police Clearance System (NPCS), leading to his arrest inside the station in Matina Crossing, Davao City.

According to authorities, the suspect has a standing warrant of arrest issued in 2014 for violation of Section 16 of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. The court did not recommend bail for the case.

Maj. Genesis Oriel, commander of the Talomo Police Station, highlighted the effectiveness of current law enforcement systems in identifying individuals with pending cases.

“Our systems continue to prove their reliability. Upon application for a police clearance, the suspect’s warrant was promptly detected, allowing our personnel to take immediate and appropriate action,” Oriel said.

He further stressed that the arrest serves as a reminder that justice cannot be avoided. “We remain committed to improving our processes and ensuring that warrants are served efficiently. We urge the public to abide by the law, as those who violate it will ultimately be held accountable,” he added.
