The provincial government of Cotabato turned over newly constructed classroom buildings on Monday, June 2, 2026, at the Makilala Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) and Batasan Elementary School in Makilala town, as part of efforts to strengthen educational facilities and improve the learning environment for students.
Each school received two classroom buildings funded through a total allocation of P3,993,100.15, aimed at enhancing access to quality education and easing classroom congestion in the area.
Governor Emmylou “Lala” Taliño-Mendoza underscored the provincial government’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities, stressing that education serves as a key equalizer in society.
“We believe that education is the great equalizer. That is why we remain committed to implementing programs and projects that provide greater learning opportunities for all,” Mendoza said.
She said the turnover of classroom facilities reflects the provincial government’s continuing push to improve school conditions and ensure that learners are provided with a more conducive space for education.
School administrators, teachers, and students expressed gratitude to the provincial government for prioritizing education infrastructure, saying the additional classrooms will help improve teaching and learning conditions in their schools.
They also acknowledged the sustained support of the provincial government in implementing programs aimed at widening access to quality education for learners in the province.
