Davao City-made ride-hailing app RideIT eyes Araw ng Dabaw launch

A locally developed ride-hailing application is set to debut in time for the Araw ng Dabaw celebration this March, marking what its developers describe as the city’s first homegrown transport network platform.

RideIT, founded by Dabawenyo entrepreneur Caesar Kevin Joven, has already recorded 54,000 app installations ahead of its official launch, signaling strong early interest—particularly among students and young professionals aged 18 to 30.

Joven said the platform will initially operate within the Davao Region, catering to students, BPO employees, and daily commuters seeking affordable and reliable transportation.

Unlike conventional ride-hailing services, RideIT introduces a flexible earning scheme that allows motorcycle owners to operate on a part-time basis. Riders can accept bookings along routes they are already traveling, enabling them to earn without committing to full-time operations.

“For example, if I’m heading home to Toril from downtown and I’m registered with RideIT, I can open the app and choose a booking along my route. I get home and help a passenger at the same time. It becomes like a part-time opportunity,” Joven explained during a Davao Peace and Security Press Corps forum.

He said the system helps maximize riders’ trips while increasing ride availability in various areas of the city.

RideIT is currently accepting motorcycle owners who wish to sign up as riders, provided their units are no more than three years old and are in good working condition. Each unit undergoes inspection to ensure roadworthiness and passenger safety.

To ensure compliance with transport regulations, Joven said the company is coordinating closely with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to verify that all riders are properly documented.

He added that strict screening measures are in place to filter out irresponsible drivers and uphold safety standards for passengers.

RideIT is powered by HAVE IT Software Company, which was recently accredited by the LTFRB as a Transport Network Company (TNC) under Board Resolution No. 005, Series of 2026.

LTFRB Davao Regional Director Nonito A. Llanos III said the accreditation reflects the agency’s support for technology-driven transport solutions in the region.

The RideIT app is now available for download on both iOS and Android platforms.
