Motorists are in for another pinch at the pump as fuel prices are set to climb once again starting Tuesday, September 23—marking the sixth consecutive weekly increase for gasoline and the fifth straight hike for both diesel and kerosene.
Leading fuel companies including Caltex, Shell, and Seaoil announced that prices will go up by P1.00 per liter for gasoline, P0.80 for diesel, and P0.80 for kerosene.
Other retailers such as Cleanfuel, Petro Gazz, and PTT Philippines are implementing the same adjustments, excluding kerosene, which they do not offer.
Most fuel stations will apply the new pricing at 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, while Cleanfuel will adjust prices later in the day at 4:01 p.m.
As of posting, several other petroleum firms have yet to release their own advisories.
The Department of Energy’s Oil Industry Management Bureau (DOE-OIMB) had earlier warned of possible price increases, attributing the upward trend to ongoing global tensions. These include fresh U.S. sanctions on Russian oil, ongoing deliberations in the European Union for a 19th sanctions package, and continued drone attacks by Ukraine on Russian energy infrastructure.
This latest round of price hikes follows last week’s increases of P0.10 for gasoline, P0.50 for diesel, and P0.10 for kerosene.
So far in 2025, the cumulative net price hikes stand at P13.50 per liter for gasoline, P15.35 for diesel, and P3.55 for kerosene, based on DOE data as of September 16.
With no signs of geopolitical tensions easing, motorists may need to brace for further price adjustments in the coming weeks.
