It was a delightful afternoon spent with fellow media practitioners and influencers at DusitD2 Davao, where we enjoyed a special lunch highlighting the bold and authentic tastes of Thailand.
In collaboration with Dusit Thani Residence Davao, DusitD2 Davao launched Flavours of Thailand, an all-you-can-eat dining showcase at Benjarong Davao, featuring traditional Thai dishes prepared by guest chefs from Dusit Thani Phuket.
This culinary celebration transported us straight to the heart of Thailand, thanks to the authentic flavors, meticulous preparation, and artistic presentation of each dish.
Our lunch began with a trio of flavorful appetizers. The Goong Sarong, crispy noodle-wrapped shrimp paired with sweet chili sauce, offered the perfect balance of crunch and heat. Thung Thong Goong, delicate golden pastry bags filled with seasoned shrimp, were both elegant and satisfying. And Yum Mamuang, a refreshing green mango salad with peanuts, dried shrimp, chili, and a zesty fish sauce-lime dressing, delivered a burst of bold, tangy flavor.
For the main course, we indulged in some of Thailand’s most beloved dishes. Panang Gai, a rich red curry with tender chicken and coconut milk, offered a comforting, mildly spiced warmth. Choo Chee Pla, crispy fried fish bathed in aromatic curry sauce, was both fragrant and flavorful. The standout, however, was Phu Phat Phong Ka Ree Bai Cha Plu—a creamy crab meat curry infused with betel leaves that added a unique, herbaceous depth.
To end the experience on a sweet note, we were treated to traditional Thai desserts that delighted the palate. Kluay Buat Chi, banana simmered in silky coconut milk, was simple yet indulgent. Tako Maprao On, coconut pudding topped with young coconut strips, provided a light and refreshing contrast. Meanwhile, Khanom Tom Bai Toey, pandan-scented sticky rice balls filled with palm sugar and rolled in grated coconut, captured the essence of Southeast Asian comfort food.
From the savory starters to the rich curries and delicately sweet desserts, Flavours of Thailand was a masterclass in Thai culinary craftsmanship—an experience that delighted every sense.
Many thanks to Ms. Benette for the warm invitation and for sharing this unforgettable dining experience with us.
