The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) is assisting Tamparan, Lanao del Sur, in developing a Level III potable water supply system expected to serve about 10,000 residents or 2,000 households.
The proposed system will include solar-powered pumping facilities, an elevated reservoir and household connections, with the local government aiming for a sustainable and climate-resilient water supply.
Magno said MinDA would help the municipality translate its water requirements into viable projects that could qualify for national government programs and investment partnerships.
“Our goal is to ensure that communities like Tamparan can access sustainable water systems that improve lives, strengthen resilience, and support inclusive growth,” Magno said.
The initiative is part of MinDA’s Mindanao Water Supply Program, which provides technical assistance to local government units facing water supply challenges.
The agency has also been conducting capacity-building activities, including training LGUs in preparing Municipal Water Supply and Sanitation Master Plans to help them develop investment-ready water projects.
MinDA said its work with Tamparan supports efforts to expand access to safe and reliable water services and strengthen water security across Mindanao.
Also present during the meeting were Office of the City Mayor Board Chairman Nasser Manalao and Chairman Nabil Bayabao.
