A 49-year-old alleged drug personality was arrested after authorities seized an estimated P375,000 worth of suspected illegal drugs during a buy-bust operation in Davao City on Wednesday morning.
Operatives of the Regional Special Enforcement Unit (RSEU) of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 11 (PDEA RO11), in coordination with the National Bureau of Investigation Southeastern Mindanao Regional Office (NBI SEMRO), conducted the operation at about 8:55 a.m. at a condominium along Bacaca Road in Barangay 19-B.
The suspect, identified only as alias “Boss Kim,” was arrested after allegedly selling a sachet containing suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as shabu, to an undercover operative who acted as the poseur-buyer.
PDEA said the sachet contained approximately five grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P35,000.
Authorities also recovered four additional heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu in varying sizes, with a combined weight of approximately 50 grams. The operation also resulted in the seizure of about four milliliters of suspected marijuana oil, assorted drug paraphernalia, and the marked money used in the buy-bust operation.
The total value of the suspected illegal drugs seized was estimated at P375,000.
The suspect is set to face charges for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as amended.
PDEA RO11 Regional Director lawyer Benjamin Gaspi warned individuals involved in the illegal drug trade that law enforcement agencies would continue operations against those engaged in the sale and distribution of illegal drugs.
Gaspi also urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspected illegal drug activities in their communities to authorities.
