Vice President Sara Duterte on Sunday said she will not resign from office, describing such a move as a betrayal of the 32.2 million Filipinos who voted for her in the 2022 elections.
Speaking before members of the Filipino community during the “Let’s Love the Philippines” gathering in London, United Kingdom, Duterte dismissed speculation that she would voluntarily step down despite the political challenges surrounding her office.
“Never gonna happen. Hindi ako magre-resign dahil ’yun ay parang betrayal sa 32.2 million na mga kababayan natin na bumoto sa akin. Kung gusto ni BBM, tanggalin niya ako,” she said.
Duterte also thanked God and her supporters for their continued trust, saying their confidence has sustained her amid what she described as attacks against her, her family, and her office.
“Ako ay isang blessed na tao ng Diyos dahil sa kabila ng kahirapan na pinagdadaanan ng opisina namin at sa paninira ng administrasyon sa akin, sa aking pamilya, at sa aming opisina, nandiyan pa rin ’yung suporta at tiwala ng mga kababayan natin,” she said.
She added that the continued public support has strengthened her resolve to carry on with her duties.
The vice president also cited her performance in the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey, where she registered the highest net satisfaction rating among the country’s top government officials. Her net satisfaction score rose from +29 in March to +31 in June 2026.
The nationwide survey, conducted from June 20 to 29 through face-to-face interviews with 1,200 adult respondents, also gave Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo a +10 net satisfaction rating and Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III a +8 rating.
In her message, Duterte urged Filipinos to remain focused on building a better future for the next generation, saying today’s sacrifices and actions are ultimately for the welfare of the country’s children.
“Ibalik natin ang tapang at malasakit para sa ating mga anak,” she said, calling on the public to continue working together for a stronger and better Philippines.
