A 45-year-old man listed among the most wanted persons in the region was arrested during a joint manhunt operation in Sulop, Davao del Sur on Monday, authorities said.
The suspect, identified only by his alias “Ren-Ren,” a laborer and resident of Barangay Alta Vista in Bansalan, Davao del Sur, was apprehended at around 4 p.m. in Purok 9, Barangay Poblacion, Sulop.
The arrest was carried out by the Sulop Municipal Police Station (MPS) Tracker Team, with support from personnel of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Region 12, the 1104th Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB), and the 1st Davao del Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company (DSPMFC).
Police said the suspect was arrested on the strength of a warrant issued in connection with a homicide case.
Records showed that the warrant of arrest, docketed as Criminal Case No. 729-97, was issued on August 1, 2021 by Judge Precious Aurealumang Pojas of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 38, in Alabel, Sarangani Province. The court set bail at P40,000 for the suspect’s temporary liberty.
The suspect is currently being held at the Sulop Municipal Police Station pending turnover to the court of origin and other legal proceedings.
Police officials said the successful operation reflects the continuing efforts of law enforcement agencies to track down wanted persons and ensure that individuals facing criminal charges are brought before the courts.
The arrest also was part of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP’s) intensified campaign against fugitives and other law violators in Davao del Sur.
