The Philippine Air Force (PAF) on Thursday held a military ceremony at the Davao Air Station to honor six airmen who died in a helicopter crash in Loreto, Agusan del Sur, during a humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR) mission following Tropical Storm Tino on November 4, 2025.
The fallen airmen were identified as Capt. Paulie B. Dumagan, PAF – pilot; 2Lt. Royce Louis G. Camigla, PAF – pilot; Sgt. Yves B. Sijub, PAF – aircrew; Sgt. John Christopher C. Golfo, PAF – aircrew; A1C Ericson R. Merico, PAF – aircrew; and Amn. Ameer Khaidar T. Apion, PAF – aircrew.
The tribute honored their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication to serving the nation during a mission of compassion.
2Lt. EAM Pagunsan, Chief of Public Information/Spokesperson of Tactical Operations Wing Eastern Mindanao (TOWEASTMIN), said the remains of Sgt. Sijub were flown to General Santos City, while Amn. Apion was transported to Zamboanga City aboard an NC212i aircraft. The other personnel were brought to Villamor Air Base in Pasay City via C-130 aircraft, where full military honors awaited them.
In a statement, the PAF expressed deep sorrow and solidarity with the families of the fallen airmen.
“Their heroism, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to duty stand as a lasting testament to the noble ideals of our service. Their legacy will continue to inspire future generations of airmen to serve with the same courage, dedication, and honor in defense of our people and nation,” the PAF said.
The Air Force emphasized that the fallen airmen embodied the highest ideals of service, risking their lives to deliver aid to communities affected by the storm.
