Officials from the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) met with Cotabato Governor Emmylou “Lala” J. Taliño-Mendoza at the Provincial Capitol in Amas, Kidapawan City, on Friday to present new programs aimed at strengthening the halal industry across the province.
NCMF Development Management Officer IV Abo S. Sumlay explained that the visit is part of the commission’s nationwide effort to boost the halal sector, especially in provinces like Cotabato with significant Moro populations.
Sumlay also announced plans to host a Halal Regional Summit—a key gathering of industry stakeholders designed to develop strategic plans for the growth and sustainability of the halal market in the region.
Mendoza voiced her full support for the initiative, affirming the provincial government’s commitment to backing the summit and other NCMF-led programs dedicated to uplifting Muslim communities throughout Cotabato.
