P2.3-M worth of illegal drugs seized by DCPO in weeklong operations

The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) confiscated illegal drugs worth PHP2.3 million during a series of operations conducted Aug. 10 to 16.

DCPO acting chief Col. Mannan Muarip reported Monday that 48 coordinated anti-illegal drug operations resulted in the arrest of 52 individuals during the period.

“The Davao City Police Office remains resolute in its mission to protect the city with the active support of the community and barangay officials,” Muarip said.

Seized were 348.9 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PHP2.3 million, along with 1,582.6 grams of marijuana worth PHP189,915.

During the past week, DCPO also conducted 16 anti-illegal gambling operations, leading to the arrest of 18 gamblers, seizure of PHP5,460 in bet money, and filing of 16 cases.

Muarip added that 41 operations were conducted against wanted persons, with 22 of the 41 included on the most wanted list.

Additionally, three incidents involving loose firearms resulted in the arrest of one suspect, confiscation of one firearm, surrender of another firearm and one turned in for safekeeping. A case was also filed.

Muarip said 112 individuals were arrested for various offenses during the period, underscoring DCPO’s commitment to law enforcement while strictly adhering to human rights and police operational procedures.
